Posted 3 years ago

It is no secret that, in recent years, the scale of online businesses and eCommerce user bases has grown exponentially. More and more companies are starting to learn about online promotion and marketing, meaning they need a reliable eCommerce platform to help with sales and development. Magento 2 is the latest version of Magento Open Source, which is an effective solution to this growing online community. With Magento 2, you can improve loading speeds and performance, increase scalability, increase online search traffic and, most importantly, increase sales. These are just some of the incredible advantages that Magento can have on your business, but the possibilities to grow and develop are endless.

Today, we have put together a tutorial on how to install a Magento 2 store so that you can kickstart your online business venture. We have included all the tips and key resources that you will need, so continue following along to find out more.

Step 1.

Start by going to the Magento release page and select the desired version of Magento that you would like to download. In this video example, we are installing Magento 2.4.1.

Step 2.

Once downloaded, you will need to upload the zip file to your server. Here, we have used Filezilla to carry out this action. You may also want to rename this file for ease to “magento.zip”.

Step 3.

Next, run a command to unzip the Magento content, installing it into a folder on your server. To run this command, we have used putty.org, a free resource that is readily available and easy to access.

Step 4.

Now that you have the necessary unzipped files for Magento, you are going to need to run another command which will allow you to set up the Magento instance. This is the command that you will need:

(simply copy this command and edit it on your server)

php bin/magento setup:install –base-url=https://mage2.adlabdev.co.uk –db-host=localhost –db-name=mage2demo –db-user=YZh6jYeI –db-password=7DkFtnE1WU7RXXHl –admin-firstname=adlab –admin-lastname=adlab –[email protected] –admin-user=adlab –admin-password=Adlab@123 –language=en_GB –currency=GBP –timezone=Europe/London –use-rewrites=1

Using Putty, you can insert your data into this command for your specific store. This will include your username, password, URL, and other admin details.

Step 5.

Once this is set up, go to your base URL location to explore what you have installed. Now, you can start learning more about Magento, a comprehensive and robust platform, that provides an excellent tool to help your business excel.
